Hartwell, GA – Lake Hartwell is set to shine on national television as Fishing University, hosted by Charlie Ingram and Ben Ballou, comes to town this weekend to film an upcoming episode of their popular fishing program on the Outdoor Channel.
The nationally recognized show, now in its 38th season, travels across the country to highlight top fishing destinations while sharing expert tips, local flavor, and the unique stories of the communities they visit. By choosing Hartwell, the producers are spotlighting both the exceptional fishing opportunities on Lake Hartwell and the welcoming spirit of the community.
“Having Fishing University here is an incredible opportunity to put Hartwell on the map for anglers across the nation,” said Amanda Brown, Director of Discover Hartwell. “We know that Lake Hartwell is one of the premier fishing destinations in the Southeast, and this show will help attract even more visitors to our community.”
As part of their visit, Ingram and Ballou will host an informal meet and greet with high school and college anglers at Gum Branch Mega Ramp on Sunday. The event is open to the public, offering kids and families the chance to meet the TV hosts, ask questions, and get an inside look at what it’s like to film a nationally televised fishing show.
The episode featuring Lake Hartwell and the Hartwell community will air in Spring 2026 on the Outdoor Channel, reaching fishing fans across the United States and beyond. Local leaders hope the exposure will boost interest in fishing on Lake Hartwell, encourage outdoor recreation, and drive tourism to the Hartwell area.
